*NEW* S1-6/Staff: SMOKING IN A PUBLIC PLACE. It is disappointing from a health point of view to note we have a larger than usual group of young people who have started smoking, particularly within the school perimeter or near to it. There also appears to a misconception that it is okay for 16 or 17 year olds to smoke in public places. Below are the details of the legislation that explains what authority the Police have to deal with these issues. This is a reminder to the youths that chose to smoke and the adults who choose to purchase the tobacco for them. If anyone requires any further information, please contact PC Boyce at Stranraer Academy – 01776 706484.
The Tobacco and Primary Medical Services (Scotland) Act 2010.

S1-6/Staff: I’m running the Glasgow Half Marathon this Sunday 2nd October. If anyone would like to throw a couple of pounds my way, I’m FUNDRAISING FOR THE SCOTTISH COT DEATH TRUST in memory of my friends’ son Drew, who died in 2011 aged only 50 days. £650 buys an apnoea monitor for vulnerable babies (or subsequent siblings of those lost to SIDS) and I’ve already raised £420 via my JustGiving page and the Sunday Night Custom House Quiz. It would be great if I could reach the amount needed for one monitor by Sunday. Pupils wishing to sponsor me can see me any lunchtime this week. Mrs Gibb
